SC Lawyer Recognizes Journal Staff

A former and current staff member were recently published within the January 2019 edition of the SC Lawyer. Congratulations to Eric Richey and Jordan Beumer for such a great accomplishment.

Former Staff member and 2018 USofC School of Law graduate Eric Richey wrote his article, Advice for When the Lone Ranger Shoots Down Your Client’s Rogue Drone: Plus, Where Not to Fly Your Drone in 2019, discussing the recent federal and state law disputes which may arise with the use of drones.

Current 3-L Staff member Jordan Beumer wrote his article, Sovereign Citizens in South Carolina: Who Are They and How Do We Deal With Them?, explaining the ideology and background behind the Sovereign Citizen Movement and provides analysis on how to effectively handle this type of citizen within the legal profession.

Recent Article Receives Recognition

The ABA Real Property, Trust & Estate Law Journal is excited to announce IRD and Charities: The Separate Share Regulations and the Economic Effect Requirement has been identified by Michael Yu as “one of the best works of recent scholarship relating to Trusts & Estates.”  Michael Yu is an Associate Professor of Law at California Western School of Law, and published his review in Jotwell: The Journal of Things We Like (Lots).  The article was authored by Ladson F. Boyle, Esq. and Jonathan G. Blattmachr, Esq.

Congratulations to the authors, for such an impressive scholarly work.  The review can be found through the Jotwell website, located here.  Hoping such an outstanding article continues to receive praise and finds the many readers it deserves.

Golden Spade Winners

Congratulations to 2L staff members Allison Fuller (top), Natalie White (middle), and Allie Burns(bottom) for their Golden Spades awards.  These three went above and beyond expectations on their spades, and the entire editorial staff was thoroughly impressed with their efforts.
